Trying to park at work and the car struggled to reverse
Found a puddle of ATF under the airbox.
What has most like happened?
aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
We had a look and it appears to be squirting from a metal pipe near the radiator and it is definately ATF and not CCFPSF leak?
From the owner's handbook
Automatic gearbox
Use Castrol TQ Dextron lll or Transmax Z
Got airbox out
The rubber pipe carrying gearbox oil has burst
No idea how I am going to fix it at work
Well the pipe will have to be removed, so why not take it to a local hydraulic firm and ask them to replace the rubber pipe, but if your going to do it your self follow this link. http://www.discovery2.co.uk/Oil_cooler_pipes.html
Dexron lll is the up to date spec for Dexron ll, any brand will do.
Take the pipe not the discoBecause it is stuck and the only nearby person who can tow me is a local mechanic I use for my MOT.
and there's no such thing as Dextron.
Can you wrap the hose perforation with a piece of rubber insertion and put a worm drive hose clamp around it, replace the lost tranny oil and drive the beast home, not a permanent solution but I have used this method to "fudge" a fix of a burst hydraulic steering hose on my mates Caterpillar front end loader to get it back to his workshop, unless the hose has a really big split this method will stem the flow.To be honest this may not be cheapest but I am not in any recovery organisation at the moment.
