Also, does anyone think the £80 Reinz HG kit is worth the extra £40 over the Elring one?
 
I have a glowing dip stick! And green dye under my oil filler cap too. Unless my oil has green UV dye in it for some reason, there's definitely coolant mixing with the oil.

There you go same as mine time for a head gasket job you can also pull the plugs and see if any are steamed cleaned which will give you a good clue which has gone.

Never had issues with elring...is one of the better makes.

I still have a box of bits from my 4.0......whilst cam is of no use to you, I do have complete rockers, shafts, pedestals etc....and I am not sure if I went for new followers and rods too, or just rockers....not at wok tomoz, but will check Thursday.
 
I wish I had done my cam shaft while I was in there I'm gonna have to do it sooner rather than later just bite the bullet and do it all

Is it all the same for the V8s? I assume it must be if you mention it but seems an incredible stroke of luck if it is!

Only difference is the camshaft....the GEMS engine uses the same rockers and followers....it is just the profile of the cams that is different.

Can you remember what camshaft you went for Ant? They range in price from £45 to £300! I'm not sure it's something I'd trust Britpart to make. And the followers, everyone seems to recommend OEM only because the others are made of chocolate... but no one seems to know who makes the OEM ones. This is getting complicated.

The Camshaft will be no good in a 4.6, but you can have the rest!.....

Whatever happened to the 4.0 by chance??
 
Go for the Kent 180 :)
Lots of people seem to like it the Kent H180 Martyn, says you need to upgrade the springs too. I'm not sure I want to go that far....
The 4.0 has gone to a new home Ant. We managed to sort the oil pressure, and we decided to replace a few other bits and bobs. The handbrake performance was down because the transfer box was leaking fluid out the back on to the hand brake shoes, so that needed a new seal. But it got an MOT last October, and lives on!
 
Great to hear she lives on and well done to you and your brother for all the effort you put in.

Let me know if you want a box of bits, sans the camshaft, gratis as I have had it all for over a year, and the credit card bill the £330 went on has been paid so it is just taking up space!!!!

No need for cash....you can have it gratis as you will be splashing the cash on more important things to fix :D!
