Crazier than a box of frogs on acid
Hi all.
I thought I'd share this as I remember a thread about this a while back and thought I'd give it a go seen as some internals of one diff i have are shot.
And owning a series means I'm constantly skint
The only bad thing about doing this is I won't be able to test it for a while as the series is coming apart again very soon for a strip down, bulkhead repairs and 5 speed box conversion.
So here's the knackered spider gear housing and a pic of how one should look as a comparison.

At some point the housing where on of the gears sits has picked up and has a fair bit of metal missing. Also the back of the gear has ground away too.
So whacked it all back in and layed down a few welds.

Then realised my welder (tis only single phase 185amp) isn't nearly powerful enough so will take it into work next week to use the 3 phase welder
Will also chop the short shaft down so I can run it on the road on to a pay and play site then refit a proper length shaft when I'm there.
I will post up with pics as i progress with this.
