have you touched the FIP in any way?? if so ………

Loosen off the 4 bolts that secure the top of your FIP (one is a security head but a 7mm socket and a hammer will do)

now push the middle part of the FIP as far back (towards the bulkhead) as it will go and crack off injector pipes (17mm spanner) get someone to crank the engine until you get fuel at the injectors tighten your injector pipes - crank again and the engine should start. Move the centre section of the FIP until you get a smooth tick over. tighten everything down and clean up the tons of diesel you've ****ed everywhere.

That is for the bulb check ECU does not do that. As i said when mine was out of sync as far as i can recall everything appeared normal just would not start. Can't recall mil lamp staying on. Maybe it did can't remember.

That's so funny if you can't remember how can you comment , I will dig black box edc system later it explains all although a check light also work like a Register ie no light no talking , I wil dig it up

Well it's simple, i don't remember the Mil lamp being on all the time when mine was out of sync. Think i may have noticed that. GEMS may do this but that is a different system. No mention of Mil lamp staying on in Bosch EDC Nanocom instructions. Mil is switched on by BECM if a fault occurs via a signal from ECM. Bulb check is done by BECM not ECM. If you have a Nanocom simple to sort it out. Just nip out and input the wrong code into BECM, putting ECM and BECM out of sync and let us know what state the Mil lamp is in.

Keith does not have a Nanocom. He has Faultmate MSV2. I do, i got one before they went on sale to the general public. But at that time they would not re sync until update BBS1.11. There were some glitches on it until BBS1.12 the needle sensor has been sorted with that, but there was another minor one i detected that i have not yet tried to see if it's been corrected. But as i say i maybe wrong but i don't think the Mil lamp stays on when BECM ECM are out of sync. I think everything appears normal but engine will not start.

Yes it does more than the Nanocom, but it costs a lot more if you want all the function modules. Unlocked for multi vehicle use and with all the modules for commercial use it is mega pennies. If i am wrong about Mil lamp i am wrong. Been wrong before i am not going to cry about it.

Faultmate does more than Nanocom especially if you have the SM035 module. My Faultmate is not VIN locked and currently covers modules common the petrol and diesel but not pre EGR diesel EDC or any V8 ECU. I won't go near the V8 engine. Other modules can be added if the need arises.
I have no idea if the MIL light lights briefly or continuously when loss of sync between BECM and EDC occurs, I don't see that it's relevant, it's certainly not been raised on the odd occasion when a diesel has lost sync.
I won't be wasting time testing your theory.

sorry wammers edc diesel the bcem does not iluminate to say it has recived the code unlike gems
but in saying that it dosent tell you that it lights up if it fails but it does say that it recives signals from the ecu to the revcounter so i assume when turning over the taco will move apart from that there is no idication whatsoever

From experience of it happening to me, i can definitely say that the MIL/bulb check/engine shaped light on my car '01 diesel does light up for a couple of seconds when ignition is turned on,though if it does not come on the engine will still crank but will not fire.

I know it does a check light are you saying if it doesn't come on at all then its lost its sync?

If it doesn't come on at all it has possibly lost sync but in my case it had lost the earth path from the ECU.
Fitted a new earth wire from battery to case screw on side of ECU and it has been fine ever since.
I was going to suggest the OP tried the same as i have used this fix a couple of times with other diesel p38's.
Not a perfect fix i know,but allows you to use the car while searching for the earth problem.

Ok have ust done my test. Could not see engine shape light light up at all but can not ever remember seeing one. The nozzle check light comes on and goes out. The glow plug light does the same. Now on to the pump after short crank I can hear a sound like the shorting of wires. Like when you go to jump start and the connectors just connect. This is not a clicking sound and carries on even after the engine stops cranking. Does this mean any thing to you Guys. Thanks again for all the posts.
