If I were a car dealer I'd personally steer clear of selling P38s!

Right all sorted it was the offside CV joint had spewed its internals in to the cv boot and was no longer turning the wheel ........ All done same day FOC ......... Wonderful service from woodside
The question is, did they check the VCU? If not expect something else to break PDQ.Right all sorted it was the offside CV joint had spewed its internals in to the cv boot and was no longer turning the wheel ........ All done same day FOC ......... Wonderful service from woodside
It must have been making a hell of a noise then.
Never heard a thing not a squeak
Squealing like a pig from front end now just had occasion to use it since I got it back yesterday, louder on offside and seems to move across to the near side as you go round bends , gets quieter when you brake but still there none the less
Yep, deffo the VCUThe Viscous coupling maybe seized, told you to get them to check it. That is most likely what caused the problem in the first place, take it back and get them to check it. Only a couple of hours to change but a £400.00 part.
Don't drive it until you get the VCU done. The older rear diff will probably explode now!

Surely the garage should of picked this up? From the sounds of it you couldn't fail to notice it on a test drive.

I did and they said it was just a naggered cv joint .......
If the front wheels are skipping on lock it is the Viscous coupling seized. Jack one front wheel up and try to turn it. It should turn slowly but need a fair bit of effort to do it. If it cannot be turned at all coupling is seized.
