There's a guy near Whitchurch (Aylesbury) called John Dennis who specialises in 4x4 and used to work for Land Rover, or so I hear. Never used him but that isn't far from MK if you cut down the back way (through Swanbourne etc.)

Right all sorted it was the offside CV joint had spewed its internals in to the cv boot and was no longer turning the wheel ........ All done same day FOC ......... Wonderful service from woodside

It must have been making a hell of a noise then.

The question is, did they check the VCU? If not expect something else to break PDQ.

Never heard a thing not a squeak

Find it hard to believe that a CV joint knuckle end spinning inside it's outer shell specially on lock is not going to make a noise. Unless it had been like that for a very long time and was completely worn away. Have you seen in insides of a CV joint? They are pretty lumpy and will rattle about a lot if the ball bearings go on holiday.

Squealing like a pig from front end now just had occasion to use it since I got it back yesterday, louder on offside and seems to move across to the near side as you go round bends , gets quieter when you brake but still there none the less

The Viscous coupling maybe seized, told you to get them to check it. That is most likely what caused the problem in the first place, take it back and get them to check it. Only a couple of hours to change but a £400.00 part.

If the front wheels are skipping on lock it is the Viscous coupling seized. Jack one front wheel up gearbox in neutral and try to turn it. It should turn slowly but need a fair bit of effort to do it. If it cannot be turned at all coupling is seized.

There's no skipping on lock at all in either direction that I can detect ..... When I had a jeep it was very prominent in both feel and noise, but on this other than the squeaking noise seems fine ......
