Anybody got an idea to remove a sheared drainplug on a 300. Tdi transfere box it kinda wierd it was not like it was tight but it broke after two turns and its about two threads deap in the hole ?. Nightmare

Yeah but whats the difference between a tapped hole and a hole with a helicoil is it just to stop the hole getting bigger and bigger ? Can i retap the helicoil ? I havent drilled the old one out yet is there a easier way ahh what a pain in the cock just for a oil change done all the other fluids no probs why did they use such a stupid bold on the tc is it just a magnet thats stapped off ?

Im confused what size helicoil do i need is the size they are for the bolt they recieve ie i order m10 1.5 or m12 1.75 ?

the thread for drain plug isnt std metric its 12mm is not 1.75 its finer 1.5 or 1.25 unsure and cant check till monday

Does that mean i would have to go even bigger to fit a new helicoil ?
Will i get away retaping whats there like ive said it might not come to this as the bolts still in the hole i will drill it and try find a easy out in the morning
Engineering makes be be stupid lol

to fit helicoil you drill out larger hole with drill in kit then tap hole with tap in kit ,fit coil then std plug

thats what i do as i have to keep things std ,but there is nothing wrong with retapping bigger thread for bigger plug

What units gear boxs and tc,s uhh you make me shiver i can work on engines take them to bits bla bla but just looking inside a gearbox makes me scared looks so complicated its hard to imagine how it even works lol thanks again
