FET's are much easier to control with just a few resistors and/or zener diodes, but they don't do DC very well.
Don't forget thermionic valves and good old fashioned BJT's. Nothing wrong with a valve based class A amp

Having been there I think juicys sounds best from outside the car, maybe a little ott tho and mine sounds better from inside the car and as the exhaust is still all there probably still legal too
we drove a long way to find somewhere with a high wall each side of the road but it was worth it.
