I did three things to my 4.6 last week and its transformed the way it drives....

1. 28 psi in front tyres instead of 36 (that's the last time I trust a tyre shop to put the right pressure in :doh.
2. Replaced front radius arm bushes with Polybush Comfort bushes.
3. New steering damper.

No more wander and thumps in and out of road potholes without any fuss

All stuff from a local independant LR specialist near King's Lynn. I guess a few places will stock the Polybushes on-line. All I know about the damper is that it's not the original manufacturers one (not that there's anything wrong with them...).

been thinking of freshening the front suspension/steering out for a while, which bushes did you use?had a look and there is radius to axle or chassis? Where they hard to fit? thanks.

Now you all know from the handbook that only genuine LR parts should be used and fitted by your local main dealer who is a specialist on your vehicle. Maybe LR have opened up a Polybush factory in the Outer Hebrides which has found employment for 20,000 local inhabitants.

Land Rover don't make parts..if they did, they would be ****e !!!!

tommo138, I had bushes at both ends of the radius arms done. I did them myself in the past on my Classics years ago, by hacksawing out old bushes and pressing in the new LR bushes in my Dad's big bench vice....which I broke in half so ended up taking radius arms to LR and got them pressed in for a packet of fags (the good old days). Way to much of a faf for my P38, so got the Polybush Comfort's and damper fitted for the thick end of 300 quid, well spent IMHO.

Bloody hell you can buy a 20 ton press and the bushes, then do them yourself for a lot less than that. Have £150.00 or so to spend on beer. And have the press available if you do your hub bearings. Not money well spent in my book.

Your post got me athinkin .....Wiv just changin me wheels & getting em balanced I too "Trusted" the garage to pump em up to the correct pressure ......

I Checked em today ....OMG

F O/S = 48

F N/S = 52

R O/S = 45

R N/S = 58


& I wondered why my teeth were rattlin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what they put in to settle beads. They must have forgotten to reset them. Idiots.

Shake on yer wheels will be yer Steering damper worn

The Disco boys call it "DEATH WOBBLE" (when the damper fails completely, you only need to go down an uneven road at over 30 & yer wobblin like a JELLY!!!!!)

28Psi Fronts .....36Psi Rears......You should be able to tell if it HAS been done.. as its right at the front (Just under the Rad) they get absolutly Hammered in Sh1te ..... if its had a new one it'll be obvious!!

150 for beer would be very nice, but work hrs, choka garage, wife, 2 kids and all that dictate otherwise, so 300 quid on a massive improvement was well spent for me....
