    in line thermostat mod td4

Mines is the Gates one in the link Epicuser posted, it has 89 degrees stamped on it and I have watched the water temp on the Scangauge 2 go up to 88 degrees then begin to drop when the stat opens. I used cutting discs and then grinding discs on my Dremmel like Spacemonkey to cut the band...

HA HA HA HA... that is all...

Crikey, and I thought my mate that wanted to make headlights for his bike out of old baked bean tins was daft!!! That home made water resistant seat's a cracker not to mention the brakes, fuel tank and engine that over heats every couple of kilometres.

    Normal running temp

Jeez, I thought I was doing well until I read this post :( The Freelander's my wife's daily drive to and from work, 8 miles each way through 4 small towns about 2 miles apart so never getting to any kind of cruising speed. I'm hoping the mpg will go up now that I've fitted the inline...

    Normal running temp

Mines is the 89 degrees one too, dunno about the fuel economy because I hadn't kept that close an eye on it, we were averaging about 32 mpg, I just filled up on Thursday so will see what we get now it's done, have done the first treatment of diesel rhino too.

    My 2006 TD4 Auto HSE

Glad you like it mate, it's a really good piece of kit and really easy to see where you've got it mounted. I'd recommend it as well.

    Normal running temp

I bought mine from UKOBD as well, can't remember if it was from Ebay or Amazon. Display in purple because it's my wifes favourite colour, you can't see the buttons on the left hand side properly because of the microphone for the hands free kit. To change the gauge displayed you just press...

    Normal running temp

Yep, mines is a facelift model, pics will have to wait until Wednesday though, I was out early this morning so never had the chance and wasn't back before my wife left for work and I'm just heading down to Worcester for a couple of days.

    Normal running temp

The Scangauge 2 is a really good bit of kit, at the moment I have it displaying water temp, boost, instant mpg and ave mpg but you can choose from a huge range of gauges to display.. Since my wife uses the Freelender for work every day I've set the display to purple which she loves. Mines is...

    Normal running temp

No mate, that's where my temp gauge was sitting, the Scangauge 2 I fitted showed the water temp at between 58 degrees when driving at over 50mph, fitting the inline thermostat solved the problem. My needle sits perfectly at the half way mark now with the Scangauge showing the water temp rising...

    Normal running temp

I fitted the Gates thermostat today, before fitting it the highest water temperature displayed on the Scangauge 2 was 65 degrees but was normally 58 - 62. I had to grind off the metal clamp with my dremel, the thermostat is a tight fit so it helps if you take the hose off and put the thermostat...

    My 2006 TD4 Auto HSE

    Faulty Thermostat

According to what I can see it goes in to the top hose with the copper bit facing the engine. I don't suppose you took any pics to do a quick "How to" thread did you Spacemonkey?
