I have a 2002 2.5tdi that has a strange noise when pulling away when the engine is cold. Once warmed up it goes away. It's a loud noise, difficult to describe, like a cow mooing/vibrating sound. Anyone else had this issue before?

Ah ok, because we were trying it with the engine off and obviously stood still. So is it ideal to change to diff lock when moving or even crawling? And obviously hi-lo when stationary?

Found this electrical connector under the middle seat whilst taking it out to give it a good clean. Anyone know what it's for? Should I be worried it's not connected to anything?

Bought a defender 90. I don't think we checked the diff lock. We have tried engaging it but it seems incredibly still and we cannot get it out of High gearing. Is there something wrong with it?
