    Disco 2 TD5 missfire?

My disco has been running well and I've had no problem until the weekend when I'm getting a very hit and miss missfire. A full service was carried out only about 2 k miles ago and all the filters were changed, and I've loads of fuel in the tank so any ideas where I should start looking. Feels...

TD5 Oil grade question again sorry.

Well I bought 20 lts of fully synth 5w30 from Cosco for £40 so enough for 2 oil changes and some for top ups. Thought it was best to stick with what LR listed in the end, thanks for all the advice guys:)

TD5 Oil grade question again sorry.

Thanks for the reply, I guess others are using the same but not posted. I've not had the disco long so just want to make sure 15w/40 will be ok. Interesting about using your old engine oil did not know you could do that. What ratio do you mix at but then I suppose you only adding 7 or so lts...

TD5 Oil grade question again sorry.

That guide suggestes that a 15w/40 might be better in the summer when its warmer and engine temps are a little higher where as the 5w/30 is better for the winter cold starts. Perhaps I should of said that I tow quite a lot espically during the summer so my engine oil temps are going to be...

TD5 Oil grade question again sorry.

I've just booked my TD5 Disco in for a service (114k) at my local Landrover specialist and asked him what oil he uses. He told me he uses a high quality 15/40 unless the customer states otherwise. He uses 15/40 in his own TD5 disco. This obviously goes against the book but he is well respected...

    can anyone recommend some spotlights

Just placed my order from Paddock Spares - Land Rover, Range Rover Parts & Accessories - Discovery, Defender and Freelander The 100w 8" Wipac spots and the light mounting bar for a Disco 2 was £92 and a few pence to the door.:D If you order on line p&p is free. The 6" Wapic's are a...

    can anyone recommend some spotlights

I'm about to order a set of 100W long range 8" Wipac's and a mounting bar same as in this photo. I'm not sure just how good they will be but Wipac used to be reasonable and at around £45 a pair good value. I've had Cibie on other vehicles but cost and the potential for loss due to theft or...

    Range Rover or Discovery

I cant advise you as to which is best but I've owned my S2 TD5 Discovery for around 2 months now and I love it. It really does for me tick all the boxes and for your budget you could get a very nice one.:) Apart form a little street cred is a p38 rangy any better than a disco 2? Good luck...

TD5 tweeks, was it worth it?

Yes it was:D Just before Christmas I ordered a s/s replacement exhaust centre section, EGR blanking kit and a K&N panel filter all from Paddock. Total cost £98 inc VAT. Already got the decat front pipe so that was not needed. Got them all fitted and quite a difference, the exhaust note has...

    1st time fill up!!

Thanks guys, TBH I dont do massive miles so savings would be very minimal and I'd rather not take the chance of buggering the engine. Its an interesting subject though and as fuel cost continue to rise it will become a serious option for some people. Years ago people used to brew ther own...

    1st time fill up!!

Think I'll stick with the normal pump fuel to be on the safe side especially as the saving appears to be minimal. Thanks for all the advice. :)

    1st time fill up!!

Thanks for that, when you say use veg oil I assume you mean vegetable cooking oil? Will this damage a TD5 engine? How much is veg oil and where do you get it from in enough bulk to run a vehicle on.

    1st time fill up!!

I cant recall ever seeing Bio fuel for sale, who sells it? Do you have to mix it? sounds a lot of faff or is it straight forward.

    1st time fill up!!

Over a £100 to fill up is very scary indeed. Now its full I'll try and keep it that way. Running around on the red does my head in and it's always the case that when you want to jump in and just go especially if your in a rush I'll guarantee you will have to stop for fuel:doh: I'd rather keep...

    Are all Discos seven seaters?

I looked for one without 7 seats as they were not needed. Not knowing a lot about Discos I found that it was the higher spec vehicle that tended to have them fitted.

    1st time fill up!!

I've had my TD5 Disco a month now and it was about a quarter full when I collected it so since then I've been putting in the odd £30 here and there but the guage never seems to move that much so I was beginning to wonder if the fuel guage was working as it should. Anyway to-day I...

    TD5 tweaking advice.

looks like I can save some cash as my TD5 already has a decat front pipe:)The only sad bit is the fact that I dont have any gain to make in terms of power from that item. I've decided to change the centre section and see what its like noise wise, the pipe is not a lot to buy and it can be easly...
