    Fitting new seats

So long as your seats are secure, if they're meant to slide they do, and the seatbelt fixing is secure & working that's all that is needed for the MOT. The seats that you've got with the electric motors etc. you might find that you can't get them in when you've made the adaptor, the motors etc...

    Fitting new seats

measure across the seat fixing bolts, ie left to right, the early seat mountings were considerably narrower than the later ones (which are now a fairly standardized measurement) I had an L reg disco with the early mounts, I made an adaptor bracket to fit RR seats, but you can't fit electric...

    Upgrades for offroading

you don't need a snorkel unless you intend to go swimming with it, but I would get a set of heavy duty steering rods, then consider heavy duty bumpers.

Tow Ball and Jaw Pin help

It all depends what you want the pin for. If you're thinking of towing a Sankey trailer with it, it won't! there's not enough clearance between the pin & casting. You'd need a proper Nato hitch. Also the ball will be slightly higher than a 'standard' 50mm ball hitch.

I have a Snap-on 18v one that I bought from ebay, I've got to say that it's an excellent piece of equipment, and much more powerful than my air guns (2 off) if you can afford it, get one.

Get yourself a pair of military recovery points, they bolt on top of the front bumper, using the bolts that fix the bumper to the chassis plus a couple of extra ones. Paddocks sell them new, or ebay 150838380390. They fit all Defenders not just series ones.

    Re-moulds against Normal

I have Kingpin remoulds on, no problems what-so-ever, we do some serious stuff and I've seen brand new "good" named tyres trashed on their first time out, if a sharp rock goes through the sidewall, it doesn't look who made the tyre! Kingpin have been going for a long time now, I remember my Dad...

    CB Radio.

First of all you need to think where you're going to be driving your Disco, If you're going to be doing some serious green lanes with overhanging branches, then a mag-mount / roof mount / mirror mount is no good for you, as the aerial will get wiped off quick style. Obviously if you're not going...

New to Disco - A few pointers

Yes, they are all this slow, the brakes are crap, but you'll get used to that, you just run it into a banking if you need to stop PDQ. That aside, oil can / will leak from anywhere, you need to find out where it's from. Things to watch for, especially if you're taking it off tarmac...

    Taking my 110 round France

If you're not going off roading, then just good preparation is all you need. I would change all filters and engine oil, check all other levels, if petrol new spark plugs, if diesel it might be worth it to have the injectors removed, cleaned and refurbished. New fan/ serpentine belt, and if you...

    Which winch is which?

We've fitted one of those, not a bad piece of kit. the biggest thing with winches, is learning how to use them properly, and not abuse them. The synthetic rope is by far better than a steel one. if you had a wire rope fitted to this type of winch, as you winch in, it will overlay itself far...
