Spotlight question. Not the usual though!

The previous owner of my fender drilled through the roof. Power goes out, water comes in :( . So avoid at all cost. Still wondering how to stop this without rerouting everything. I'd go for the raised air intake myself. Oh, and he placed the rack right at the front of the roof. So if I turn the...

    LT230 - what to do...

Preface: I've owned this 300TDI now for a little over a year. Got over 400.000km on the clock. Don't know anything about the history of the car (abuse etc.). Situation: The transfer box leaks oil like a sieve. Input, output, lids... Got some serious clunk in the drivetrain. Some in the transfer...

    Driver door lock barrel removal

Should have taken a closer look. There is the screw, and you can get at it by drilling in the right place (which didn't help me after all - rusted beyond all hope). Thanks to all contributors. :)

    Driver door lock barrel removal

Exactly. Only mine was a bit different - as far as I remember one piece of metal (not that red plastic disk) and a central rivet instead of a screw...

    Driver door lock barrel removal

I'm a bit confused about this. On the back of the lock there's a lever moving a rod. This lever is riveted to the thingy containing the lock barrel, so that's not the part you're talking about. I only found the two screws holding the door handle from the inside (well, one screw and a pile of...

    Driver door lock barrel removal

OK, then I failed miserably. Took me three bloody hours to get halfway there and back again. Since the rear door was a piece of cake I thought I'd overlooked something obvious...

    Driver door lock barrel removal

Is there an easy way to get the lock barrels out of the front door handles? Don't want too disassemble the whole door to get the handles out. Searching the net gives me all kind of tutorials for the rear door... :(

Noise like vibrating sheet metal on decelerating???????

Got the same problem, an it's driving me nuts. Not the noise, but my inability to find the source...

Strange clicking noise while rolling along

I've bought it a year ago. Oil levels are fine, rather sinking than rising. :)

water water everywhere but where's it coming from

Be sure where the water is entering, don't seal everything up on suspicion. The previous owner of my TD5 did exactly this - bad silicon everywhere. More problem than solution. If the sealing isn't perfect, water will still enter, but it will be harder to trace. And stay underneath your new...

Strange clicking noise while rolling along

Finally managed to get the wheel bearing and the constant velocity joint replaced. The parts were somewhat worn, but not enough to explain for the noise - which isn't gone, by the way. So back to square one...

    Diff-lock light

Well, I'm not. Already happened to the wife... Rummaging around in the car the diff lock got kicked in. Drove several kilometres before noticing. Now we're always checking before taking off, but it's an accident waiting to happen. I'm OK with you not sharing our problem, but wouldn't have...

    Diff-lock light

Same problem here. Well, almost, since the lamp just doesn't work. Still wondering if it'd be easier to check the lamp first... Are they prone to burning out?

    Defender HT cappings gone

Thinking about replacing them. Take off roof, side panels, cappings, remove all the rotten silicon smeared into the seams (grrr!), rebuild. Primary research is into monetary issues. Barring some nasty surprises everything looks good. I want to get this done before the weather gets really bad...

    Wipers slapping bulkhead

Had this happening just last weekend. Grub screw got loose and the plastic thingy which keeps the wiper arm on the axle was a little bit worn... Almost lost the wiper...

Strange clicking noise while rolling along

I'm thinking pretty much the same. The jolt may have realigned the rollers... Really need some time to sort this out.... Hope the car manages the next days in this condition. :)

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Cleaned the MAP sensor. About fecking time...

Strange clicking noise while rolling along

Fixed it. Or made it worse... On a test drive after cleaning the MAP sensor I hit a large pothole with the right front wheel. The clicking is gone, now there's a slight squeaking instead. Guess I'll really have take it apart, any month now.

    Door leaks ideas to fix....

Bad the same problem. Took off the door seals - a poor fitting door killed it. In the curvy sections there's such a poor fit the seals just don't have a chance to keep the rain out. So it's probably a good idea to take them off so you know where to add additional sealant.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Replaced leaking door seals. Looking good, but somehow not looking forward to the next rain shower. :D
