    Gearbox Expert Help Please

Thanks for the quick reply Kevstar. I have been trying to make those mounts fit but they’re not right for the brackets I have on the gearbox and transfer box as my brackets don’t have the hole for the mounting peg on the mount sadly. Lovely part of the world you live in by the way. I’m a big...

Hi all. I have a 1998 3.9 V8 Auto D1. I have lost the mount for the left hand side of the gearbox that fastens to the chassis. The gearbox is as follows: The problem is that it has a mount on it that looks like this: Which looks like this when attached: How do I get this to attach to...

    Gearbox mounts

Thanks Mike. That does answer my second question about whether you can route a monster exhaust around the crossmember. Lovely work with the engine mounts. I was impressed with those when I had a look through the photos of your rebuild. Happily my mounts are only about 20-30mm out by the looks of...

    Gearbox mounts

Thank you for your reply. It sounds like a neat solution to me so I don’t have to put another crossmember in. Do you have a photo? Cheers

    Gearbox mounts

I have been very slowly rebuilding my Defender replacing my 200tdi with the 3.9 V8 and auto box from a 1998 Disco. I’m just on the first challenge of many where I’m trying to slot the engine and box into the chassis. I know the engine mounts are in the wrong place btw. It’s still an open case...

    LED stop/tail lights

I bought the full wipac set off ebay a while ago. Had a mild panic attack when they came in a britpart box, but they came with an adjustable flasher unit included and look almost standard unlit, but a massive improvement when lit. Well recommended

    Carbon fiber defender

Front wings please. Provided they are strong enough to stand and sit on, heat resistant to mugs of tea and cost about the same as a good pair of second hand originals.

I'd like some 'disguised' rock sliders that look like normal sills, do they exist?

Chassis amazingly solid actually. Still planning to replace with a nice Richards one soon when I get my garage. Thank you all for your concern about my crumbling death trap!

I'd like some 'disguised' rock sliders that look like normal sills, do they exist?

The Rugged Guide ones look a bit like mine. Made by someone on eBay by the name of Pepsi something. Still got a bit of overspray on them from when I painted my landy last summer, so not looking their best, but give some idea.

    Wings, vents and side repeaters

I made a template out of card by measuring the hole required for the indicators then constantly adjusting to fit. My old repeaters were held on using 2 lugs, so the holes left behind gave me a reference line to position the template. Used a Stanley knife to mark out the hole to cut on the wing...

    Wings, vents and side repeaters

I changed the old fashioned orange block side indicators for the new style smoked ones on my 200tdi. Not a big job, just measure properly then get to work with a drill and file to shape.
