Gearbox mounts

I have been very slowly rebuilding my Defender replacing my 200tdi with the 3.9 V8 and auto box from a 1998 Disco. I’m just on the first challenge of many where I’m trying to slot the engine and box into the chassis.



I know the engine mounts are in the wrong place btw. It’s still an open case with Richards. The transfer box is my old one from the Defender and slots in nicely on the chassis mount, but the gearbox mount seems to be way off.



Is there a different mount that goes on the gearbox, or a chassis mount that I can bolt on in place of the Defender one. I can’t remember how it attached on the old Disco and having scuttled under a similar age Disco V8 auto at Peterborough last year I am non the wiser. Can anyone shed some light please. I promise I have googled and run a search on the forum.

The top picture looks like the mounts on the chassis are in the right place to me, almost inline with the turrets, the 200tdi mounts are alot further back.

I’m in the (long) process of doing the exact conversion.

I used the 300tdi gearbox crossmember (anr3713) with the 300tdi mounts and relevant brackets.

You dont really see much though.
One thing i’ll point out though, on the lower photo you see how far back the 200tdi chassis mount is!
I fabricated my own engine brackets to pick up off the 200tdi chassis mounts

Thanks Mike. That does answer my second question about whether you can route a monster exhaust around the crossmember. Lovely work with the engine mounts. I was impressed with those when I had a look through the photos of your rebuild. Happily my mounts are only about 20-30mm out by the looks of things so should be much easier.
