I got a pattern part replacement a few years ago after I got fed up of trying to plug leaks in my old one.
What I did is sealed up any gaps where water might ingress where the bottom plate meets the main body of the tank, then put a thick coat of dinitrol all over the tank before fitting.
I...

Hi all...
Last year I bought a set of sidelights/indicators/reversing/brake lights.
Admittedly, they were disturbingly cheap...
My issue is with the back plates that fit onto the bodywork. So, at the time of fitting them I noticed how brittle the plastic was and in fact some of them cracked...

Thanks for the replies... I think I'll be going Britpart (for once!).... Enquiries with Exmoor did not reveal anything that sets them apart anyway... just over-charging basically it seems.
My Landy's had horrible ill-fitting discovery seats in it for years, which have now finally collapsed. I...

Did you check the ignition? I had the same kind of issues for ages - i would investigate and find some bad or corroded connection somewhere, clean it up.. everything fine for a while only to be presented with the same problem eventually... took me ages to narrow it down to the ignition...

Been looking at some front seat retrim kits. Does anyone know if there's anything better or "special" about the ones from Exmoor trim as opposed to the usual Britpart ones, since they are that bit more expensive?
I know exmoor have various options for upgraded covering materials, but I'm just...

likely ignition switch, try turning it very slowly and/or giving it bit if a wiggle!

Hi all,
I discovered a while back that my battery doesn't charge.
The alternator is putting out good voltage, but the wire going back to the battery has a reading of 0 volts when isolated, suggesting a break in the cable.
I've traced what i can see of the wire and can't see anything untoward...

OK... so I put the original connections back in place - and all works fine! No longer getting a 5V reading on the supply to ignition. I can only conclude that it was a bad reading, i.e. negative prong of multimeter not earthing properly!
For anyone else who has a 200tdi fitted with the old...

UPDATE...
I feel a bit of pratt now but it turns out i had the wires all wrong on the ignition (duff info from google.... i should have used my multimeter!)
So yes, the solenoid was cutting off during cranking due to this.
Engine starting fine now on the bypass wires.
This still leaves the...

Hi all.
I'm trying to wire up a new ignition.
For some reason the 12v permanent supply (brown wire) is only giving a reading of 5volts... obviously when i turn the ignition on, nothing happens.
I'm guessing the brown wire must have been burnt out somewhere to give such a low voltage reading...

Wipac have obviously made a bad batch, i just wondered if anyone else had come across them...
The issue is the clip locators on the back of the bulb are in the wrong place, or the lens is wrongly oriented, depending on which way you look at it.
It's not a massive issue, i can still use them...

Headlamp correctly aligned
but...
note the mis-alignment of the clip locators

Hey all. i just bought a "wipac" headlamp kit from one of the major uk suppliers... i've found that the lens of the headlamp is misaligned... once fitted (and they only go on one way) the arrow on the lens that is supposed to point up is out of alignment... not uniformly either.. one headlamp is...

Hi all, thought i'd do a quick run-down of my method for rust-proofing a standard steel replacement fuel tank on a defender 90, it's based on other posts i've seen here but i thought i'd add my tuppence worth...
First i checked the new tank and found that it was well painted, no scratches and...

good idea! a bit late as i've gone for a metal tank and decided to seal it, paint it and proof the underside with dinitrol 479. Hopefully by the time this one needs replacing somebody will be making plastic tanks for the older defenders :)
