Have look at the link which is for a disco, LR Discovery electrical manual 3.9 efi, there isn’t a relay involved with the ignition coil… the feed is from the ignition switch to the coil, via the immobiliser if fitted...

The best of luck with that.😊 The D1 fitted with steel springs was pretty hard even when when it left the factory. The early RR is/was a “softer, floater ride” so u can try fitting springs with the same spec for that vehicle, but you will have...

Hi guys, I have now resolved the problem, since the mirrors have no relay circuit, I used their feed wire to trace the problem, when I checked the continuity between the fuse port for mirrors and the ignition feed there was no connection which...

Ok now that clear 👍 it appears that the ignition load relay is isn’t operating correctly when the ignition switch is in position 2. So iffy relay due to no 12v supply, or burnt relay contacts not closing if the relay is operating. Swap the relay...

My quick search shows me two versions of electrical manuals, 5th and 7th edition for the D1, and apparently the same...

Wasn’t you bridging a relay supply to the coil directly and running the fan, therefore bypassing the operating switch circuit? D1 Windows have an electronic control unit ECU for four windows to control and interfaced with other bits and bobs if...

Ok by now you have the blower relay confusingly called ignition load relay, and hopefully you have now found the front wiper relay. The mirrors don't have a relay and the electric windows has only an ECU. As far as a “short” in electrical terms...

Could an early RR or disco1 key or later models with the security fob attached on the same key ring for remote central locking. If you think its a land rover key a main dealer service dept would confirm it is.
  • discool
Your assumption is okay, as DVLA say that when a private plate is removed the vehicle will be given a age related plate.

discool replied to the thread Second key.
The number is only a reference to the keys profile, which also you can find stated along other numbers on the vehicles LRs ‘Security Information’ card…

Something else, your attached link is applicable to the 3.5 Range Rover which of course I was aware off.

The L prefix registered vehicles were from August 1993 to July 1994 your reg certificate will give the first date. 1993 D1s were fitted with the 200 engine, but some owners in the past have mentioned in the forums that their early vehicles had...

The 1995MY D1 with its 300tdi engine was introduced in March 1994, and of course it has “fusible links” located in the engine bay fusebox. The 1994MY D1 had the 200tdi engine. Just saying for those that are uncertain 🤔😊

Thanks for your reply you sound very knowledgeable, I wonder if you could direct me to the inertia switch location so as I can "adjust" it. Many thanks. If it helps it's a 1998 discovery 300tdi RHD. Cheers.

discool replied to the thread 300TDI hazards.
it’s a printed circuit board mounted component which is factory built for particular inertia spec for its application, and part of the vehicles security ECU PCB. It can’t be adjusted and it is a safety feature.

discool replied to the thread 300TDI hazards.
It should only be an issue when the vehicle has a very hard knock or bump as in an accident, there’s inertia switch which will signal the doors to unlock, if locked, and also set the hazards flashing. To cancel, is by switching off the...

Ok my 3.5 RR which I owned from new had just over 100,000 miles and when at 10 years old I sold it, ait never has any ignition issues, and as all 3.5s then including my TVR before had the amplifier on the distributor… in fact I was unaware there...

Assume the amp is a pattern part of RTC5089 that you’re fitting. Haven’t you tried fitting the genuine part STC1184G three pin module remotely with its extension lead this amp as this supersedes the RTC item I see here’s already a few threads on...

Depending on the model year... my 3.5 RR 1987MY had a direct drive. Then the 1990MY 3.9 with the Borg T box was around. so if Land Rover now decided to fit a a transducer which there are two versions (like the disco 3.9) either a short direct...
