One for the electrical minded members here :) my 1990 vogue SE speedo needle started to jump up&down ! now its stopped completly ...Relay maybe ? if so where is it located ? ...Ps i dont need anymore speeding tickets :rolleyes:

I doubt there will be any relays involved in the speedo circuit, a look at RAVE will provide an answer.
If you have a smart phone, download an app such as Digihud which will accurately display your speed and mileage covered. Used it for ages with my Transit when the speedo packed up

In that case, it is likely that the speedo is driven from the ABS wheel pulses. If there is no ABS fault light illuminated, I would be looking for corroded connectors. It is also possible that the problem is with the instrument cluster as it was with my Transit, a dry solder joint. I used to have RAVE for your model year but my laptop has died and I don't have another copy.
 
Shows how much I know about the Classic LOL. Just a broken cable then?
I may not be correct but mine is definately cable. I also remember that the cable to fit the BW box has a larger square drive than the LT230, I had to file it down when I switched
 
Earlier (LT230 transfer box) like my '86 3.5EFi auto have a two piece speedo cable.
Long one comes out of the drive unit on the transfer box & up into the car by the transmission tunnel side of the driver's side footwell.
The shorter upper cable attaches to this end of the cable then up through the dash to the drive head on the speedometer.
It IS possible to break the plastic clip that holds the two cables together with your left foot. Guess how I know!
The cables can also break internally.

Flickering of the speedo needle at very low speed can also be the grease in the drive head going hard. Can be cured by using Plusgas or similar.
Best taken off to flush out.
Some have taken the round end cover off but as it's staked on I don't think it a good idea.

In this LRcat diagram items 1 & 2 are the two piece cable
Items 10 & 11 are the later two piece type with a transducer (item 5)

The plot thickens !!
I took the back off the cluster and found the ABS warning light bulb missing ! Must have been someone's quick fix too a problem ?

There should normally be 2 ABS warning lights so that if one bulb fails, the other will light to show the problem. I suppose that may not be the case on your car.
 
If it has a transducer on the tbox then the speedo isnt driven off abs signal. A relay is just a switch for high current using a low current signal so there wouldnt be one for the speedo either
 
I only have RAVE that covers soft dash otherwise I'd post the wiring diagram, but I'd guess the problem can only be the transducer or the speedo itself, unless you have a chafed or corroded wire between the two. Have you had the binnacle out and looked at the multiplugs & PCB?
 
Check the drive cable from the transfer box to the transducer & the drive cable from the transducer to the speedo drive on the back of the speedometer inside the binnacle.
Check that the inner cables (square ends) aren't broken - I suspect that's what happened.
