Has anyone ever plastic sheet tinted a rear window? Are the screen heater elements and issue? In other words when used does the temperature change cause warping or the film to rise?? before I ho and waste my money...also has anyone had good results with a spray tint??
Thanks:)

yes, its a pain on the arse to get on, you WILL get bubbles and wrinkles, especially if its the first time you've ever done it. Give yourself enough tint for at least two or three attempts before screwing it into a sticky black ball and throwing it all in the bin.

in my experience, no

Tis a piece of **** I've done mine. First time i ever done it anorl. The alpine windows were an absolute ballache but the rest were easy! :)

Does look good though and i used 99% tint. Heres a pic only one i can find but you get the idea:eek:

Although i did bugger it up a bit on the boot door but you can hardly see it from outside so couldn't be arsed to do it again so it will do:p

Spread mine out with the plastic thing supplied to get the bubbles out and it scratched the tint on the inside.
Finished off with a sponge which I found much better:)

I looked this up on another forum, and was advised the following.
1 cut the sheet to the shape of the window first.
2 before taking the backing sheet off, spray the window with a light mist of weak
fairy liquid solution.(this allows to to slide and move the sheet around the window to where you want it, without it sticking)
3 using a squeegee, squeegee from the centre outwards, removing any bubbles, excess fairy liquid, or folds to the outside edges.
4 allow to dry naturally, apparently the liquid will evaporate.
I did this to mine and to be fair it worked great, and it did dry,and did not ruin the film.
try it on a small bit of film first to make sure yours work with the fairy and the slipperage is good...

We have lots of vehicles done at work, they put it on the outside first and cut it to size then as above soapy water spray and smooth out from the center. they do a whole RR in about an hour.
Also they tell me some films are conductive and can interfere with in glass aerials.

Before you start , think about the main purpose of the film . ie heat rejection or privacy .
The darkest tint is not necessarily the best heat rejection. IIRC you cant use mirror film in UK , as previous post easy to do , use soft rubber squeegee, and about 3 drops of fairy in a pint sprayer . Clean window really well with a glass cleaner. Spray window and back of film after pulling of carrier layer. Position and then work from centre . Dont cut film right to edge allow for door channel . Cut fil longer to allow bottom to go below window edge seal strip, that way wont ruck up when window goes up and down. Dont worry if a bit cloudy when you have squeezed most moisture out, just leave untill clears , was about half a day in OZ but would think quite a bit longer here;)

One of the previous owners got the Disco's windows tinted, I'm assuming with film. Certainly the back door is film; it's been scratched off in a couple of tiny places. Demisting works fine.
See my introduction thread for a couple of pics.
