Whining noise

Hoping someone can help me here please.
My 03 td4 has developed a faint whining sound when changing gear. It sort of does it on the change, not on acceleration so I'm hoping it's not turbo. It sounds more like it might be from the clutch or gearbox.
Any thoughts anyone?
 
If it's there when you have the clutch pedal pressed. It could be the release bearing (concentric). Or the input bearings on the box. It could even be the bearings in the IRD or rear diff.
 
Hi. Thanks for that info. Can't do much about it till the new year now so it's fingers crossed it lasts.
