I have this whining noise when I am coasting, it sounds like it comes from the rear but not 100% certain As soon as I put my foot on the accelerator the noise goes away... any ideas anyone?

A few thoughts:

Rear diff - check oil level for a start.

Rear wheels - check brakes aren't seized. While you're there, spin the wheel while holding the spring - you'll feel the rumble of a worn bearing.

VCU bearings, esp. front one - get underneath and thump the prop near the bearing - it may knock if there's play. Otherwise, do what I did and have all four wheels up, car running in 4th gear and use a screwdriver as a stethoscope. Risky.
