Hello everyone,

I'm struggling with my tailgate window and am looking for some help and advice please.

I've just had to replaced the window regulator cables, refitted it into the door, recalibrated as per instructions found on the forum, window goes up and down using the switch in the centre consol, no beeps, rear wiper/wash working as is the heated rear screen. My problem is when trying to open the boot the screen should lower slightly to clear the upper seal but its not doing it. I've tried recalibrating it a number of times but its making no difference and I'm now stuck and out of ideas. Its a 54 5 door TD4 Sport by the way.

I've had a look through the forum for hints and ideas as to where to look for the fault but can find nothing similar to my problem.

Anyone got any ideas please?

Thanks in advance

glad to have helped,

happily haven't had this problem yet but you never know what will happen tomorrow

Hi
Presumimng the microswitch on the door handle works fine, try checking the wiring behind the drivers side rear trim in the boot where the wiring loom goes through the body to the door. I did all the same repairs as you did to find it still didn't work, it was broken wiring behind that trim panel in the boot.
Have fun

Problem solved! Electrically everything was ok, mechanically not so good, with the rear inner door panel removed and latch fooled into thinking it was closed when operating the door handle I could hear the motor working and see the cables flexing slightly. What I think has happened is when operating the screen up and down fully I suspect my cheap ebay purchased replacement cables have stretched slightly or have been slightly too long to begin with, when the motor was operating it was only just taking up the slack and that wasn't enough to move the screen. Decided not to mess about and bought a new regulator with motor, when it arrived it was in a "Britpart" box which was a surprise but its doing what it should so happy days!

Thanks for the advice guys, it guided me towards thinking about swiches which in the end pointed me towards a solution.
