what did you end up doing with the props?

Well I was going to buy some at £100 a piece custom made but the local landy mechanic says he can shorten some props.

I've got a good series prop with new UJ's so he can shorten that for me and I can get hold of a 200tdi 4 bolt prop cheap so he can shorten that one too :)

Doing it on the cheap for now just to get it mobile!

Sounds ok, as long as it works! you going to billing?

Striped cleaned and repaired engine mount. Fixed a few holes in chassis that were made removing said engine mount. Checked new gearbox mounts fit between crossmember and box(just about) and bought some new wheel studs and nuts.

Block for my trayback almost finished being prepped and ready to be filled up with oily bits

Block bored for oversize pistons and crank case de-flashed... along with the rest of it as no point having just one area all smooth and shiny and the whole lot painted with a coat of Glytal :)

WOW  paint in side is a NO NO! any flakes come off and block oil ways! Seriously bad idea!

even so,still a bad idea.with it getting doused in oil constantly it might have an adverse reaction with it and flake off the block.

Paint is designed specifically to withstand being submersed in oil, fuel, water, acid etc.

Don't worry, I'm not the first to use it on the inside of any oily bits... There's thousands of machines being built every year being painted inside parts just like it ;)

Anyway, its only a 300tdi... :p

ok,as long as it's designed to be used with oils, acids etc then should be no probs, but why paint it there in the first place????

Yea, I made sure its upto the job before I cracked open the lid :)

Well... If it ever throws a leg out of bed, it'll look nice inside... Innit :p

Haha, nah... I cleaned off all the rough casting on the block etc and the paint is a good sealer and helps the flow of oil back to the sump, it has good insulating properties too so reduces the temps of the block and heat on external parts of the engine as also reduces the possibility of porous areas in the casting.

All pretty much irrelevant on an offroader other than maybe the oil draining back to the sump a fraction of a second quicker after I get put back on my wheels after being upside down... But every little helps and all that :)
