Worth knowing, but also kinda obvious.

Like I say, I've had mine in for 5 odd years with plenty of offroad, hard use, for leisure and work and for one to let go now I think is pretty good. I'd also say the cheap cv's nland halfshafts are pretty cheap and dead easy to replace, the same can't be said if you have all the uprated tack and it leads to the diff taking all the stress, or worse, the transfer box. Also, you won't get much change from £1800 to do the ashcroft uprated stuff, which just isn't worth it if its not in a comp safari/winch challenge truck.
Good to know, but better to know how to swap out standard parts etc on the side of a road, just maybe not as convenient!

Hang about Stan, I'm not criticising you.

I cannot afford that kind of dosh on uprated parts, when standard parts are more than adequate for my Landrover, that's all I'm saying.

Fur enuff!
My ex son-in-law who used to totally abuse his series 3 as he was a builder, always towing trailers far too heavy for it over rough building sites, used to carry one of each size of half shaft with him at all times. He did tend to snap them for a pastime.

At the end of the day I am just glad that a cheap and easily replaced part was what went and not an expensive ATB diff.

I checked the gearbox oil.

and it had some in

I drove mine through some puddles, at speed, which was nice.

Fell off the bonnet of my 110 after standing on it to tie stuff to the roof rack. Think I hit the winch on the way down. Split my elbow open and I think it may be broken too, bad left leg limp but can but a bit of weight on it. I don't bounce like I used to at 61. Leg has gone rock hard around the painful bit but no bruise there after 5 hrs, dunno what that means.
12 hr waits at a&e at least so I'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Replaced my injector loom on the 90 today, I do it roughly every 15k as this seems to be the optimal mileage before the oil starts tracing back down to the ecu, squirted lots of lecky cleaner in every socket I came across, including the big red ecu one. Oh, and I washed her!

Replaced the rear wiper arm with s/h one (from Newbury last week) & blade on the D2. Ever since I've had it the wiper only cleared half the rear screen (despite new Bosch blade). I'd had the same problem on my FL1 after I fitted a pattern arm & ended up buying a genuine one which cured it. So this s/h arm also cured the 'half screen clearance' so I can only assume the old one was a pattern item as there were a few differences between the two. Glad I'd chopped the washer pipe & fitted a non return valve last time otherwise it's a door card off job !

I'm doing exactly the same today, put on reconditioning charge just after breakfast. Just nipped out to see charge level and a large Rozzermobile 4x4 stopped in the lane.

A 6ft brunette female Community Orificer stepped out, walk over and confirmed a neighbour's near new RRS had an attempted theft at 3a.m. this morning. We had some banter and I asked is it legal for me to keep a starving rottweiler in my Ninety...and are we permitted to round up these thieving pikey types and remove from the gene pool? She smiled and replied, "No Sir, we're not permitted to this..."

She was a cheerfully polite Orificer.
