Fitted new fuel tank sender realised i don't have a wire for the low fuel light!!!!
Fitted new seals on front vents so hopefully my feet will not get to wet this winter!
:D

Bought another ....

1990 g plate 3 door v8 disco 3.5 v8 on twin su carbs

Plan to tear out engine and running gear for my 90

Disco is rotten beyond belief - dropped the bonnet and bits of the chassis fell off :) wont have to scrap it will be able to sweep it up into the wheelie bin !

Today I replaced front hub seal, pads and front uj. Now I have found gearbox front output flange is warn and the mud shield actually spins it was that loose. That's a job for Monday ....

Completely stripped down old axles from the old Disco down to bare casing. Nearly.
Came to a halt on the rear axle when I realised I don't have a 52mm box spanner. £6.25 spent on eBay should see the job finished next week.

Don't think the rear calipers have been taken off. Ever. What a sh*t bag those hex bolts were to get off!!

Both axles being taken back to bare metal and fully refurbed throughout ready to be swapped straight over later in the year. :D

And on that note - can anyone recommend the best method for getting in the nooks & crannies regarding the rust/paint removal?
I'm thinking rust and paint removing wheel or wire wheel on the grinder for the most of it.

air will get the loose stuf, a small screwdriver, nitromorse or crust will sort the rest

Rebuilt front axle , oil and greased it. Bled brakes.

Seems that annoying "clunk" is an accumulation of tolerances. No major wear in anything , but still a lot of play on front diff flange :(.
