Let her have a lie in ... after covering 420 miles in the past two days mostly between 50 - 70 mph I've figured out our mpg is 35+ not bad considering we had 3 adults, 4 kids and misc. gear on board ... totally shocked at that result.

just been out tonight and picked up me new extended wheel arches :D
big thanks to 90boy ;) , and to bodgit0_0 for courriering them down for me ;)
almost too good for my old bus :D but think they will raise the tone of her a tad above scruffy heap to mean scruffy heap :D
least i wont have to swap the wheels over from the td5 to get it through MOT now either ;)

pictures to follow of them fitted next week (got to get the trani box back in before the weekend if i can )

with the help of a mate and his workshop have fixed the brake leak, was just a loose connection:D and have altered the holes on the steering guard and winch plate so that they could get put back on:D only cost me £20 and 2 breakfast baguettes:D:D

just need to get the water pump replaced  just sent hubs off to THE MAN to see if we can get one.

Had a second opinion on a recent ebay purchase 1992 ROVER90
All cool bit of welding, new belts, few seals and a good chassie scrub and some protection. (any coating recomendations?)

yep your right far to good for your motor:rolleyes:

took the center seat out of the old 90 and redid the drivers side seat belt ( latch end) as it was always too high up looks like previece owner replaced the original 1 and it was'nt cranked on the fixing end so put a L bracket on the anchor bolt  sorry no picys was ****in down and was well ****ed off too
all set now for making a cubby box with a V in the top to sit the note book with memory map and gps dongle , also will make it so i can extract it so i can get the grandsons car seat in there hooked up to the 3 point harness if i get it fixed properly.

also finally got a picy of the disco trani box ready for refitting

managed to alter the deepender handbreak bracket to fit the disco trani box and also fitted a strong return spring as the fookin thing always seems to seize up with all the crap that gets thrown up in around there .

got the transfer box back in tonight to say the method was "interesting would be under stating it :D
over the pit and had to use a trolley jack to lift it as the beam jack oil seals have gone
so had some lengths of 4x2 with the jack on but trani would'nt go under the landie +plus would have been a bietch to lift up onto the jack as me mate has hurt his back , so he lifts the whole back of the landie about 2'6" off the floor and then i just wheel the bastid under already on the trolley jack :D:eek:
sorry no picys of that stage as i was a tad worried about something slipping
here's a picy of it on the gearbox

just got all the bits to go back on ie;hi-low lever, diff lock lever, breather ,handbreak cable etc etc, oh and must remember to put some oil in it this time

Completed fitting the Arnotts to the front, apart from a hold up cause the pump was knackered:frusty: it went pretty smoothly.

Was surprised to find that the old spring that had been causing the problems wasn't so old, the sticker says June 08! but not sure where it came from cause there's nothing to identify the maker on it, it's certainly not Dunlop/LR like the other one.

Already very noticable difference in ride, even apart from actually being able to reach standard height now:D, most noticable on High is alot more flexibility clambering over stuff.

Nearly finished fitting braided brake hoses.
Got defeated by the mounting nut on the rear hose being completely seized up and corroded.

I will beat it in the end, going to buy an angle grinder in the morning:D.

fitted side steps, took way too long dodging the rain and then one of the extended bolt things broke 10 minutes before I wiold have been finished. Got it welded up by a friendly farmer and finished to job nicely..

Removed the fuel tank, ready for the new one to gone in when I get it. The diesel was ****in out so thought it best to totally remove it before the car park gets completely covered in diesel. New tank should be here in a week or two, so am off the road for a bit. doh!
