What have you done to your Freelander today

Looks good, was lifted something from what I see :D.....

Yup, definitely in the air a bit - should help crawling underneath to fix things ;)

Got a 2" lift kit to fit too. I welded in some supports to it though, so needs painting.
It seemed to be mainly a tube with a couple of end plates, so tidied up the welding, seamed some bits that had just been tacked and put in some 4mm steel between the top and bottom plates for good measure.

Replaced ALL Turbo Hoses with DPH Blue Silicon :D (couldn't do RED or GREEN) + EGR Bypass - now I think I am getting back near to the 136bhp I should have (TDI Tuning Box Fitted)
Huge difference, pulls smoothly from 1500rpm up to 4,000rpm. (economy to be advised )
:D

Head on today, cam belt & tensioner fitted, inlet refitted, alternator and PAS reconnected, exhaust manifold fitted. Next: mount the K&N Apollo, reconnect exhaust, fill with oil and coolant and start up!
New tyres this week: Bridgestone 205/70/15 96s Dueler A/T 697 - tyre shop had a good deal running basically 25% off! I think they work out at around £380 for the set. How does that compare with old blighty?

Created space under the bonnet by removing the Disco 1 air box. Can't believe how much room I've freed up. Got an idea in mind for the intake system..........

Very nice. Good luck with getting one of those Raised Air Intakes. Rarer than a very rare thing. There was a member on here had a pattern/mould to make them but I don't think anything came of it?

So what did I do to mine this week. New tyres fitted, GKN VCU and GKN/FAG bearings fitted, Synergy2a from my old Freelander fitted. Very happy with the results. Continuing my research on extended/uprated springs and dampers and making good progress. Hope to have something on the car by early October.

EGR Blanking Mod, cleaned inlet manifold replaced crankcase oil filter and painted the rear wheel hubs...With a little help from my wife!

Rotated tyres and found brake disc guard rubbing so removed for time being untill I can get a new one.
Gave the blacks a good clean and polished.

Installed a new intercooler to manifold hose after original split. Pain of a job to remove the old one when the jubilee clip is obstructed. An hour and half and job done this time with the clip screw horizontal to enable easy undo.

Got the shop to replace VCU and bearings - took them a little more than two hours, so figured it was money well spend (trying to imagine how long it would take me to do it, still had to pay someone to press fit bearings on the new VCU). Bought GKN VCU and bearings from Island 4x4. The sneaking feeling that the old VCU was on it's last days, was confirmed by the mechanic - and by driving it after new was fitted. No more tightness at full lock! Real smooth. Old VCU had done 70.000 miles... Oh, and I had a small leak in the rear diff seal (prop shaft), so they changed it at the same time, while having the driveline dismantled. Hope it's good for another 70.000 miles now!

Fitted new alpine Bluetooth radio, £150 with a specific FL double din cage and a cable so steering controls work. Well happy with it sounds miles better than the standard head unit.

I have the previous faulty one for sale for parts, with a code if anyone's interested.

Cheers
