This will come as no surpise to you guy's but today my sisters freelander nearly tipped me over the edge.........
Noose was set up in the rafters, good job the mrs caught me climbing up the ladders's!!!
Long story short head gasket blown and head cooked (No surpise there) so swiftly removed head sent off for skim and swiftly re fitted with modified gasket and shim......
Bleed cooling system, start engine sweet as a proverbial nut!!!!
After 2-3 minutes on idle Oh S**t boiling up AArrgggghhhh
Check water pump, guess what Yup not pumping but slipping on impellor......
Swiftly remove cambelt fit new pump and re bleed system.
Oh, whats that dripping on floor??? antifreeze?? why yes. Bloody thermostat housing is leaking. So, Drain down cooling system seperate themostat housing and re seal with rtv....
Built back up and will try bleeding system again tomorrow after rtv has properly set. Not holding my breath but will give progress report tomorrow.:5brant:

Yup......
To be fair though. the HG did look pretty damm buggered anyway looked like a piece of what I can describe as piece of sugar paper!!

From what I could make of it I think so.........
But now got a lovely shiny modified one on. Think I will advise her to get the modified thermostat fitted whilst I'm in the thick of it

That should do it. Coolant leaks are the main reason for HGF after you have fitted the mods, so as long as you keep an eye on the level you should be fine :).
