Anything is better than nothing. Waxoyl is OK but it seems to go hard over time and flake off.
A bit of oil mixed with it stops this happening.
But there are other products as already mentioned.
Are you going to do it yourself, or get it done by one of the rustproofing companies?

Your new defender will have a 6 year corrosion protection warranty. I have a workshop manual for Pumas (earlier, up to 2007 models) which contains the full paint / corrosion protection specifications, from memory it specifically does not recommend using aftermarket type products. Speak to your dealer first to check if waxoyling will invalidate your warranty. That said, I have started the waxoyling process on mine at 3 years old (see my post earlier this week).

Wax-oiling, was an option offered by the dealership, so I don't think it will effect the warranty, yet i will check, and mention the other products that Turboman suggested..

I can't argue with that! I am certain it will be of long term benefit, and definitely won't do any harm.

Been a life-long fan of Waxoyl and that was on the recommendation of my old dad.

Did my 90 15-years ago and along with occasional touch-ups the coating is still flexible and offering excellent protection.
I also use Waxoyl on assembly, a dab on fixings means a lifetime of easy dissassembly. For instance, 2-years ago I removed my bulkhead to get it galvanised and the hinge-screws (the ones that usually seize-up on people) just unscrewed and the inside of the bulkhead was still protected by the soft Waxoyl I had put in there 12-years previously.
Not saying that there aren't other excellent products out there, just that I stick with what I know best.

Probably the best time of all to do it! :)
Check out the other options, Dinitrol, Bildt-Hamber, etc. before you commit to Waxoyl, some think it is not the best product available now.
very true ,i use better products on newer vehicles and waxoyl yearly on older vehicles were the rust is showing

I have contacted the dealership, and they are more than happy to use: DINITROL 4941 - black, tough, elastic and waxy film
