Hi everyone, I am a newbie and have just purchased my first Landrover in the form of a 1995 Discovery ES Auto. I hope to have some fun with it in the near future and experience their legendary reliability..... Anyway, despite doing over 170,000 only 2 things are broken on it.

1) drivers electric seat switch
2) steering wheel cruise control switch (the speed up button is shot!!)

The most annoying thing is that I can't move or tilt my seat back!!

I am in the Salisbury and Southampton area if anyone can help!!

Thabns

:doh:Never assume reliability, so youve got a disco- this will keep you spending on parts & learning to weld. re reliability, you can rely that if it can break / go wrong it will especialy electrical. if youre going to enjoy it KEEP IT SIMPLE then it MIGHT keep going.
Also people normaly introduce themselves first before wadding in with thier probs

what makes you think its the switch that is shot?

there are a lot of threads about the cruise control not working and its mostly down to the vacume pipes not the switches.

as for the seat controls they come up on ebay fairly often, you could also drop into a few breakers and have a look.

It took me 6 months to get a pair of switches and they still dont work 100%, I need to strip them down again :(

Keep an eye out but the seat switches are getting rare, very rare....

Haha, I am quite familiar with their reliability (it was a joke lol!). What would you like to know about me??

I tried taking the switch apart and I did find most of the ball-bearings and little bits of metal.

When I opened the switch, the whole internals exploded across the kitchen:mad::eek::D

Ok will have to make sure I take it apart in a bag or something so I contain the explosion!! What is it that is broken/ worn out inside??
