I have recently bought a 54 Plate TD4 Auto with a vibration /Humming from the OS Rear and is at its worst at 70mph, There was another posting were the front drive shafts had been renewed could this be related?
I have also fitted 2 new rear tyres which has made no difference.

Could be the needle roller bearings in the rear prop shaft joint. If they wear the shaft does not run central and causes vibration. Also check the UJ bolts.

Remember when you jack it up to take at least two wheels off the ground. Being 4wd even if its in Neutral one wheel won't turn on it's own. I'd be checking wheel bearings for roughness as well as drive shafts, couplers etc. You haven't got a sticky brake caliper or worn pads maybe? Did you say recent purchase? Was it a garage or private - if a garage what do they say?

Bought it from a garage, They are a general car dealer and have the cash in the bank! As they are not a specialist landy dealer they are trying to baffle me with bull**** with the old four wheel drives always make more noise than cars. If i can pin point the fault they will have to repair it under warranty.

Speak to the previous registered keeper. They might know what it could be, provided they are prepared to admit they sold a car with a problem but at the end of the day its between you and the dealer. He is havering about them vibrating as a matter of course - they don't! If you can pin point the trouble you're halfway there. Just noticed I went on about pads and calipers in my last message, the back end of FLs is drums, have a look inside and check the shoes as well as bearings etc.
