Hi
In an earlier post I had problems with tc/hd lights coming on so I purchased a stop light switch from this seller on e-bay the item number is 271497756438.
Sorry I did not know how to put the link in.
I have just taken it round garage to have it fitted and they have jut rung me up and said it is the wrong one I should have got one for an automatic.
Before I purchased the switch I checked with the seller that this is the correct one for my car and even told them the chassis number.
Is there a different one for manual and automatic.
2002 td4 es Auto.

Hi thanks for reply Hippo
Just got the car back the brake light switch fitted to my car completely different to the one I purchased off e-bay.
I have put pics on the first two is my original switch and the third is the one they sent me.

In a nutshell your original switch is actually the later type which would have come with an adaptor loom.

The supplied one is the original type.

To fit that one the adaptor loom needs to be removed.

It is a bit of a fiddle to fit as the auto has another switch on the same bracket, but I got there in the end:)

The other switch on the same bracket is for cruise control I think. Mine is a manual and has the switch (but no cruise control)

Hi
I have now found out the stop light switch had been replaced by the previous owner with the new harness and the company on e-bay I purchased the switch from will take it back.
The garage I took it to fitted the new type but this turned out to be dearer.
If I was not disabled I could have looked before I ordered the switch,The motto is look at the part before ordering anything as you don't know what has been changed,Car manufacturers do like upgrading parts.
Thanks for all replies.
