I know, I know, tyres again - Like they haven't been covered on this forum before... ;)

However, I'm going to need four new tyres in the next month or so and was just having a quick poke about on the net and found these. Anyone got any experience of them:

FEDERAL COURAGIA S/U 235/60 R16 100H

I've got Bridgestone Duelers at the moment which seem fine but are more than twice the price. Might be worth the extra but interested in any opinions...

Cheers

Hi There, My First Post, Woo, lol

I have JUST bought some BridgeStone Duelers, I already had them on the back but some retard who i got the car from had van tyres fitted on the front...probably to save some £££, it cost me about £170 for the tyres plus fitting and valves etc from a little tyre place, Kwik Fit wanted £30 extra, so i would advise that you go to a small tyre place they will probable need to order some in but they usually have them for that afternoon, I have not had any problems with the tyres either on road or off road and Bridgestone are a very good make. So if u do want to go for them just make sure you ring around and haggle for the best price because smaller businesses will want your business

So, is the general consensus that cheapies are a false economy?

Also, are the stories of bad tyre choices busting VCUs, etc true or scare mongering?

scare mongering. . . .as long as all same type, then all is fine. . . . .tyres is horses fer courses, willo is appy wiff his but he might not orft road. . . .michilin syncrones er good 50/50 but better on tarmac. . . .:) :) :)

MY colways seem to be lasting well at £40 odd quid a corner. Been on since April thats about 5K miles

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for.

Absolutely. Take BFG and Colway for example. The Colway tyres are copies of BFGs. They are about half the price. But we got 80,000 miles out of a set of BFGs and THEY WERE STILL ROAD LEGAL when we replaced them! Will one get that out of Colways? I think not.

For our 90%-road Freelander we use Goodyear Wranglers 195/80R15 as fitted from new. Get 30,000 miles from a pair of those.

Cheers

I agree Blippie but , even though I intend to, I've never kept a car for more than say 50k so expensive tyres may be a false economy?

What ? More than the difference? Anyway the jury is out on the Colways they still look good after 5K. Anyone worn a set out yet?

If you're definately getting rid after 5K then there isnt the point in costly tyres, but if you were owning long term then pound for mile you'd get more out of a decent tyre.
