Tell me what you think,

Just wanting your guys input before I dont anything with it,

Been toying with the idea of seeling it for a few weeks to free up some money,

Might put it on ebay before end of the month,

Land Rover 1997 Discovery 1 300tdi,

233,000, used daily so will inc,

4 previous owners,

5 door, Epsom Green,

Had this D1 a few months, now surplus to my needs,

Spent the last few months getting it MOT ready, few thousand spend,

Used mainly for Green Laning and lacks glossy paint and is not scratch free, but also as my work truck (carpentry related work),

Fitted with custom front winch bumper, hides a winch nicely,

Small hole in near side rear door, caused by gate latch

Rebel Steering guard,

Rear diff guard, front not fitted but will include,

Under a previous owner, its had another 300tdi engine to replace what I assume was a drowned one,
unknown engine mileage as a result, got engine timing belt changed as soon as I could for peace of mind,

Fuel pump has been tweaked, I have spent much time reducing the pressure from what it was when I first had it, runs nicely now, smokes a tad as you;d expect,

2inch lift (terrafirma) all round,

Snorkel fitted,

Insa Turbo Special tracks all round(done 500 miles), spare is differnt (barely legal),

11 month MOT & Tax,

Much welding was done to get it though its MOT, although it could do with a few patches on the rear bumper,

Work done since I've had it,

Timing belt,
AUX belt,
Drivers & offside rear bearings replaced,
Rear sunroof sealed,
Windscreen waterproofed (leaked around seals)
Full sound system replaced, DAB & iPod ready,

Recent work done since MOT,

Window regulator (drivers side) replaced,
HD tracking rods,
AUX belt tensioner replaced,
Expansion tank replaced,
Cooling system drained & refilled,
Drivers sunvisor replaced,

Current & ongoing problems,

Central locking, passenger door doesn't lock, haven't had time to identify issue, suspect slave,
Alarm sounder is faulty, currently disconnected,
Drivers Side CV joint clicking on full lock,
Front prop gaiter degraded, not urgent,
Rear prop rubber ring degraded, not urgent,
Gear box sync between 1st&2nd is worn(crunches), for mileage not surprising, go into neutral between 1st & 2nd, solves problem,
Self canceling indicator not working, problem with inner steering wheel not control stalk,

Please Note,

Winch & CB items will not be included in sale & removed from vehicle before sale,

Both are new and unused, if you want me to leave them on, the final price will increase by £500 as that barely covers the cost of buying them,

£2800-£3500 (doesnt even cover cost of work done)

Should have put the money you invested in a Fender, my opinion is that anything over £2k would be an epic struggle to achieve, reality is that a perspective purchaser does not care what you have spent on it and rightly or wrongly value it at the market rate of a 97 Disco with 200,000+ miles with some mods on it.
Not having a go, just I see your situation a lot with classic cars, restorations costing more than the market dictates they are worth.

Got a d90 of the same age, looks brand new,

Put 5k into that last year just in preventive maintenance (before I was savvy with a tool box)

I do agree though that 2800 is optimistic at best

ever the optimist eh.. i hope you didn't just spend thousands on it as you are not going to even get close on recouping that.

if someone offers you close to 1k.. rip their arm off :)

Nasty man

I agree

hey, i'm lovely!

if i were the op, i'd seriously consider removing any extras and flogging them separately, esp the insas. pick up some second hand disco wheels + legal tyres for 50-80 quid and bung them on. you should hopefully get at least 350 for the insas

maybe wait 3 months when the winter panic kicks in?
