Right then, I've been pestering you lot for for around a month now (I forget how long).

Found the one I want about 3 weeks ago but I've had to wait for various reasons. Not good for me as I'm like a big kid when it comes to cars and things that move.

I'm setting off to Manchester in a minute for it. Praying to god there are no complications and the autobox doesn't blow up on me on the way there or the drive train bits seize up. Apart from that I think it will be a good car. Always worry when I get a new car as I don't know the full ins and outs of it and I haven't had it serviced yet. On the plus side it has 12 months mot.

Anyway, I'm in the RAC, wish me luck.

Ill get some pics up for you later but I've got a mega busy day detailing people's cars as soon as I've got back. Not ideal as I wanted to start playing with mine and seeing what I need to fix (things like the clock pixels etc) changing my gear gator and various niggles.

good luck on your trip and be safe.... enjoy your car ive had lots of trouble since buying mine but still love driving it even through the flooded roads yesterday lol

You will love it very soon,
even if it has a few little niggles,,

Just remember every time you fix it,
you must be making it better.:D

Hey guys, update. I suck - I forgot pictures.

I'll be honest - I got the car this morning about about 10. Got it home then all the neighbours were scruiteering it (They like it). Then I had a car to detail, the guy didn't get there till 12. Then he needed taking somewhere etc. He said on the phone he wanted the outside spotless and the engine bay detailed so I gave him a price. Then he phoned again last night saying that the interior was a mess and so was the boot, he also said he had some funny marks all over it. His actual words were it's ditched. So there was me this morning knowing it was going to be a bigger job than usual. Then it got here and OMG! All the interior was in bits, not fixed etc. There was bolts nuts and clips all over, not to mention a huge container of spares. The engine bay was pretty bad but I expected that one. The door cards were half off. As a fellow mx5 owner I know how to put them back together and would happily have done for him but the added time its taken me to do his car I'm not sure. Anyway. I eventually got cracking and finished for today at around 10.30. I then though I'd have a look at my freelander.

I noticed on the way home the cig lighter wouldn't charge my phone so I'm hoping thats just a fuse or some corroded wiring I can fix up (shouldn't be a biggy).

The clock doesn't display anything so this made it hard to find out why the CD player was just beeping at me and doing nothing. I then wiggled the cd player to find it didn't have the screw things in. Pulled it out. Connections look to be in but to be honest I'm not 100% sure what to do with that - One for my mate that one.

The car drove back faultlessly. Now the only main thing is that it wasn't very nippy. I tried it in manual mode (it's an auto) and it felt better but on the motor way it just had no grunt... Felt fine around town and slower roads. Is this an Auto TD4 thing or does it sound like I have hose - turbo/intercooler hose problems? I had a very quick look and noticed the hoses were only secured by normal hose clip things and to be honest, then one near the EGR valve thing looked loose. Something to take to bits and fix I recon 0 Hoses look pretty new... although could't see much without taking the cover off.

The only other thing is the rear window. Is it normal for the rear wiper to get stuck in the window if it goes fully down?

The garage did give me a bit of BS though when I asked were the locking wheel nut key was. He said oh yeah I forgot about that. The owner said he had it and he was going to send it but never did. I will ask phone him now. So I waited a couple of seconds and he continued to assure me he would phone him. I realised I wasn't going to get any where with that so i think a pair of mole grips are in order.

Got the important things ready - ordered a black landrover badge for the front to go with the rear one (Already on). Then I found some cool black and silver union jack badges for the side landrover badges. Got be worth a couple of BHP each...

Tat I guess.

I have my gear gator to replace when I get round to it. Next thing is to get my mate round to help me fix the stereo/cig lighter - any other bits that need sorting (front brakes do) and then service it.

Oh and I have a synergy box to install too! Not to mention detail it! Should look awesome when it's done.

how about the back leafer arm rest, and please do not get it wet ;)

Performance wise it's no road burner. It has 112 bhp and an auto box lugging 1600 KGs about. This gives a power to weight ratio of 70bhp per ton, some of which the auto box will simply absorb! Use the throttle lightly and it will give you pretty good economy ;) Forget about ultimate performance it's not designed for that.

Ok started taking bits to bits.

My right hand side indicator was going really quickly so I decided to replace the bulb. Stupid me replaced the front bulb, still doing it. Never even thought to check the rear -I can honesty say in 8 years of car ownership I've never had to change any rear light bulb. Only ever fronts. So next I actually checked this time - sorted rear bulb. Now indicator is used properly.

I know I now want a proper cup holder so I'm off to find one of those on the front of the dash as I currently have a rubber antislip one in its place.

Took the radio out to see if I could fathom is out - Still just get a beep when I press on. The green light comes on.

I took my clock out yesterday to see if I could fix the display - I think it has died now- opps. Think I'll try and find a new one.

Also took out the center console bit this evening to replace the gear gator. Well that was annoying the original gear gator was on like a metal frame which held in around the console. The new one doesn't have this frame so just comes off easily. So think I'm gonna have to do it all again in the near future but glue it all down.
