I have a 4.4 petrol vogue with 133000 miles.

On start up it makes a sound similar to a piece of paper being held in a fan, this noise goes when the car has run for about 5 minutes. I also have a squeak which does go but does change in relation to the RPM.

Any thoughts ?

When did you last check the oil....??

Old, thick oil will take it's time to get into the Cam Followers and pump them up...often times ticking from cold is the Followers bouncing between the camshaft and the rods.

I could be way off, but worth a check...

Also it could be what Dopey has suggested...which is bloody hilarious...:D

Cam followers, just put in additive to try and sort it out, car now going up for sale before the larger bills turn up.

The oil is good as last serviced 7k ago and the correct grade oil was used, checked that.

Squeak cured with brake fluid on the belts

Yes cam followers. I don't know about your model but some cars have a gravity nrv or some variant of, in order to keep some oil up in the rocker cover area when you switch the car off and pressure drops. If the NRV is obstructed and cannot close, oil drains down and as Saint said you'll hear the tapping until enough oil gets up there again. And brake fluid is a terrible thing to put on belts. It will weaken them and the "mug" you sell to will one day have a sudden belt failure and lots of broken bits in his engine.

Any idea on the location of NRV / lifters, top or bottom of the engine, assuming the top makes them easier to service.

Always used brake fluids on belts, doesn't rot the rubber else couldn't be used in the brake system and dispels any water

What you say makes sense and yet I've witnessed the opposite happen. Arguably belts may have been on the way out and hence squeaking which the oil masked until they came to fail. End result unfortunately the same. Perhaps someone who know L322s will come along and answer you regarding nrv locations. Or you could get yourself a copy of RAVE. A search will throw up various links where it can be downloaded from.
