Disco 2 TD5 sump thread damaged

So when servicing my I discovery today the sump plug struggled to come out and basically whoever serviced her last has damaged the thread and put it in hand tight.
Before I have to fit a new sump I want to try a repair kit.
Any off the shelf suggestions please?

Use a rivnut or helicoil, i'm a rivnut fan myself

Drill it out a bit bigger, only if necessary, then cut the next sized thread up, fit a plug that size, you are sorted.
(had to do this with the wife's Pluriel, now no problem.)
Only snag with this is that it might cost you more to get the tap and drill bit than it would to take it to an engineers and get them to do it for you, which is exactly what I did, they did it real quick, and cheaper than buying the tooling for a one-off job.
