Crossed my mind today while cleaning parts to post the differences between Jag and D3 2.7 as I come to them. Have posted a few pics, oil feed on D3 single turbo has one s type has 2 block connection is the same and is a straight swap, the oil returns on the s type return through the block on each side blanked a D3 which returns its oil through the ladder sump extension thingy which also needs to be changed along with the oil pickup, water inlet has an extra pipe on the s type but is a straight swap, alternator bracket an engine mounts, air con and power steering brackets straight swap, will most likely be adding to this list as time goes by. Swapping post 07 with pre 07 the biggest difference is the fuel pump pre 07 has a diverter rail on the pump along with a sensor, post 07 sensor on front left hand rail, pump to rail pipes are different and wiring loom ( sensors in different places) I am still investigating injectors as my 06 and 09 both have same part number apart from last two letters is this a date code? Getting back to swapping jag to D3 basically you just need to make a big list of gaskets an o rings, you could theoretically put twin turbos on a D3 it would all fit you would need electrical communication and a exhaust system no not planning lol although

Good work, this will be of help for owners of the 'hand grenade with the pin missing' D3 🙂. I wouldn't mind getting a D3 or 4 but haven't got the facilities (or money) should the delay fuse activate ! Such a shame, all the best.

3 is mainly the oil pump, 4 is the crank.

Quick pic of left hand fuel rail and sensor 07 on. Sensor on diverter rail pre 07 this is a discovery difference will check out the jag rails over next couple of days, s type injectors have different part numbers to D3. another pic is the extra pipe to the egr cooling 07 on I think this circulates coolent to egr bypassing thermostat but again a straight swap between either pre or post 07 or s type. Crank pulley is 5mm narrower on the jag one in picture converted to bolt on locking tool, I didn't get any other pulleys but D3 pulleys will just bolt on, also battery to starter lead, fuel hard lines all just switch over along with the aircon and power steering pump and brackets, exhausts cross over pipe turbo all switch over no from jag to D3 no modifications needed

Just occurred to me have three different 276dt motors, left hand with no valves is 06, centre is 09, right hand is pre 07 S type all identical, rocker arms, lifters all same, but it seems pre 06 have different spring identification colors going to look into this further don't know if it's age of manufacture ID, if anyone knows a heads up would be most welcome have incidentally borrowed 06 for 09 re build,
