I hope that this helps keep the costs down when replacing a late model TD5 Discovery steering box.

I have a 2003 TD5 Discovery which leaked power steering fluid all over my drive, my fathers drive etc. I bunged up the leak with grease so it passed the MOT - good advice from my local garage.

Anyway, it got to the point where I had to replace it - I started to hunt around the internet for the best price. I then found out that there are 2 types of steering box for the TD5 Discos - the cheaper one and the more expensive one - obviously mine was the expensive one. I checked out Rimmer Bros and they were quoting something like £800 for a OEM one - even the recon ones are expensive - not sure how they remain in business.

Anyway found MM 4x4 in Worcester - great service from these guys. I explained issue and was the price they were sellign them for correct. They werent aware of the 2 types but they rang borg warner who advised the only difference in the 2 is a small seal. MM4x4 supplied this as well within the cost of the part.

So, when your late model TD5 disco needs it steering box replacing don't buy the expensive one.

Mine works brilliantly now, no leaks so thanks to MM 4x4 and Durham 4x4 for fitting.

Replaced mine yesterday funnily enough. A recon box from a local LR parts seller. Great guy he was. Also helped us out remove the coolant pipes to drop the thing out.

It was £260. Works a treat now.
