Seems that i have got to that stage when as soon as one thing goes wrong and gets fixed, bang goes another.Just got home from a 100ml round trip to give the dogs a run with friends and 3 mls from home the steam started to appear from the front end.Pulled over and everything on right hand side covered in that rusty colour.Lost water as whole expansion tank empty and side of car wet.Managed to get home before temp gauge came up and looked under bonnet, have found a small pipe that runs from expansion tank across radiator and turns into top of rad at the top right hand side.Had a small joint that had jubilee clips on it that has come apart, tried to reconnect but the pipe has snapped.Very brittle, thought they were usually rubber. Can anyone please tell me if,
A:Is the hose supposed to flexible or has it become brittle.
B:Is this route a main flow of water,i.e would i lose all my water through it or do you think i have another leak as well as,
Thanks

Fur trapper - check levels every couple of weeks - oil, water, power steering, and ace,all been fine for months. In fact last week just done an oil change and all new filters inc fuel.

Jamesmartin - My coolant was a pink/orange colour so could be feasible. Is there any other signs as she has been ruuning just fine, and as i said just done a 100ml round trip.

Sorry but any views on my pipe while i'm here

Thanks guy's for getting back to me

the pipe is semi ridgid plastic, it acts as a overflow, main pipework is at the rear of rad, left and right

johnlad,

Thanks for that,do you think that i could have lost my water from there as most of the wetness was on that side and i was moving of course, so being pumped around, also can i replace with normal rubber overflow pipe
Thanks again

I broke that pipe while working on the engine and yes you can loose the water from there. it is very brittle. People dont both replacing with like for like they use flex piping to allow movement.

cuza68,

Thanks for that, will get some rubber pipe tomorrow and refill water, and of course anti freeze, and hope that is where it was coming from.

Fingers crossed
