TD5 oil leak

Hi all

I know im asking a lot for a diagnosis online but.... My Disco has shown no signs of any oil leaks whatsover until today. I have just found a large puddle of engine oil underneath and its dripping fast but cant see where from. Just hoping there maybe a common leak that I can investigate first.

What side of the engine and how far back is it?

Nearside and middle of engine back, Im suprised how fast its leaking. Engine off and cold. Im not going to start until I have sourced a possible location for the leak and its too dark too see now,

If I've understood your description then check your oil filter has not come loose, I have had two friends which have had this happen to on td5's . It may pay to check the power steering pipes as well as they are in the same area.

Oh its leaking below the oil filter but filter seems dry. But leak is below the filter and rearwards. It really looks like engine oil rather than other oils. But Its a lot of oil and it was completely dry on Monday.

It's definitely not diesel then? The fuel pressure regulator is usually a prime suspect for leaks like this. Mine was leaking and the diesel was everywhere.

Nearside below oil filter is where the oil cooler is.

4x4forks maybe right I just went out and tried the oil filter and sure enough it was very loose! not even finger tight. So il change it in the morning steam clean and see how it goes
