Hi,

I have read the sticky thread regarding this but have not managed to solve the issue.

I have a free lander 05 td4 2 litre with around 126k miles.

At about 75 the eml comes on and there is loss of power and speed, this doesn't pickup until the eml goes off which can take 10 seconds or 2 minutes. I have replaced the maf and this made no difference. I replaced the boost control solenoid however the problem still persists .

Do you have any ideas what else could be wrong?

Could well be your low pressure fuel pump failing. On your age of vehicle it will be in the rear wheelarch. Possibly in the fuel tank, if you have that one fitted.

My under bonnet LP pump (older Td4 vehicle/fuel system layout) started failing and exhibited these exact symptoms.

I wouldn't buy anything other than an OEM spec LP pump. The cheap ones are just that.... Cheap s@@t.

Expect to pay around £120-£160 for the pump. Cheap ones are noisy and don't last long. Yours, like mine, will be in the rear offside wheel arch. Last time I took the assy out it took me an hour start to finish, but the first time it was off the road for a day as I tepaired and painted the bracket. One bolt is easy to remove but the other is not so easy.

I have since invested in some ratchet ring spammers which may help.

Replace the fuel filter at the same time.

Is the lp pump the same as a fuel pump? If so it had a fuel pump replaced in 2013 which cost 450 plus vat

Just an update incase anyone else has the same issue. The turbo fuel filter had been removed and the pipe that runs along side it had been connected to the tube that should have had the filter on so the turbo wasn't able to breath thus resulting in the engine going into limp mode.

Part cost about £2.50

The turbo vent filter/pipe?

Genuinely didn't see that one coming! As did the person who thought they knew better by blanking the thing off, presumably

It does look a bit weird with that little filter dangling down the back of the engine, I realise, but people should know by now to look on LZ and they'll get answers. Or ripped apart if they post in the wrong place...;)

Well found though. Should run nicely now :)

The metal pipe beside the tube?

That's the IRD breather pipe.

Hmmm. No wonder.....

I didn't see that coming either.
