First welcome to the tool shed of spiders and creepy crawlies.
Second was the auto working recently and when was your last service.
Uncle Nodge will give better answer shortly.

That's not uncommon to see no coms with the TCM, and is likely a red herring.
First off, what does the dash show when selecting gears?
Second does the gear selector LEDs mimic what the dash is showing?
Is there a propshaft fitted to the vehicle?

Pssttt @Nodge68 if there isn't a single propshaft at all, it aint going nowhere (good shout mate). ;)
Isn't the correct question is "How Many propshafts are currently fitted to the vehicle?".
Not having a lovely Freelander I can offer no further insights, so I will shut up being such a clever-dick.

It'll probably have 4 drive shafts to the wheels, but may have had the prop shaft(s) removed that power the back axle.

The question was referring to the front to back propshaft, not the 4 drive shafts. ;)

There's an issue where the spline link to the LH front drive shaft strips, disconnecting the front wheel from the front diff.
If there's a propshaft fitted, then that will take the drive, masking the issue. However if no propshaft is fitted, then a stripped spline like, effectively disconnects the gearbox from the wheels, making have no drive. ;)

No rear props just 2wd I've bought the replacements but not fitted

not sure if screen shows the same

will check

If the LCD and gear selector shows gear positions correctly, then it's very likely the IRD is faulty, or the spline link in the gearbox has failed.

Thanks. I get it. :D

I wouldn't rule the IRD out, its highly likely the culprit, but If there was noises made, I'd expect them to be when going into drive or reverse and gears/splines start rubbing/grinding against each other not when going into park.
