My rear silencer is starting to rattle more than ever so I am looking at changing it, has anyone got any recommendations or makes/models to avoid?

I like the idea of a stainless one from double s that maybe sounds a bit better but have no idea what a "transplex" one is (in their ad in LRM)???

Thanks

yea, im thinking of getting a twin chrome exhaust on mine, but from what it seems, they arent made, they have to be custom made as you require them.

and there over £500 when i looked ! but they do look nice :D

I had one of Rimmers stainless sports exhausts on my 1.8. It released quite a bit of power and sounded good with a not too boy racer sound, it was not a great fit though and constantly needed to be adjusted to stop it banging around.
My rear box is up for replacement as well on my TD4 but I think it will have to be a mild steel this time from rimmers. I don't think the budget will stretch to a stainless this time. :(

I found a stainless, twin pipe rear section on ebay. Paid £100.00 for it. Admittedly its fitted to a 1.8
Not sure if it would be suitable for a diesel? Worth checking tho.
Looks great, but does sound a bit OTT for a Freelander, but I can cope with that!
Cheers Russ

Like you I was on a budget a year ago & needed one quick for my MOT. I got one from Premier Motor Factors for around £65 & it fitted well without any extra noise or affecting performance. Also seemed to be aluminium coated & hasn't rusted in the year it's been on so well worth the money if you're after something not too fancy.
