hiya all, just after a few suggestions really, a few weeks back i re-newed both my aux.belt and air-con belt(genuine landrover and ive got a '02 td4), now alls well in a fashion, but ever since i changed the belts, when you turn the engine off you get a, what can only be described as a "screech", almost as if one of the belts is screechin on one of the pulleys, as the engine comes to a dead stop????

im farely confident it aint the aux.belt due to it being "self tensioning", but im wondering if its the air-con belt, either too tight,or a bit slack, i tensioned it using the old "be able to turn the belt a quarter turn between me fingers" method, and it all seemed good:doh:

the only other thing that springs to mind, is the tensioner bolt on the aux side, appeared to be loose, so i tightened it up a bit, but i dont think its this?????

had the same thing fer over two years after changing belts, never found out wot it wez but alls werking fine :):):)

Could it not be a bearing on something? My old vectra used to do the same if the air con button was pressed on turnoff, but if you turned off the air con then switched it off, all was well. I put it down to the magnetic clutch bearing.

used to get the same noise on old minis in the wet, give it, the belt, a squirt of wd40 when running, noise gone!.

Mine just started doing it one day with the air con turned on, while turning off the engine. It also didn't do it all the time, just on shutdown of the engine.

its a toothed belt [belts] :)

In that case I would say that it's a bearing. Get someone elce to to the starting and turning off while you have your head under the bonnet listening to where the screech is coming from.
