I have seen several threads about problem VCUs and I am sus about mine! 03 plate and I've had it for a few weeks and am generally happy except for one point. Low speed full lock manouvres (particularly in reverse) feel like the handbrake is on and as soon as I depress the clutch the vehicle stops. New tyres on the back and no sign of sawtooth treads.

The chassis shows absolutely no evidence of ever being off road and no towbar fitted so I don't think it has been worked hard enough to use the VCU properly. Is a six year old one likely to have probs?

Its the ones that have never been off-road that fail first. If it stops when the clutch is depressed it should be ok, when it rolls there is usually a problem. They all feel stiff on full lock, its normal.

Do a search on VCUs and testing or visit ashcroft transmissions website or Bell engineering's website for more info.

was about to say mine feels the same, on a lock at slow speed it seems slow etc like above post. Its my first landy so wasnt sure if its ok or not lol
