Yes I know this is another post re amber tc & hdc lamps and I'm really sorry but please bear with me as I have searched this forum time and time again and I have found it to be brilliant but I cannot find a answer to this problem and now I'm totally stumped.

The problem as you will have guessed by now is that the amber tc and hdc lights come on and stay on until I switch the engine off, also I have noticed that the rev counter, speedo, fuel and temp gauges stop working for a second or two then function as normal when the tc & hdc amber lights come on. So far I have replaced the G sensor, throttle position sensor, brake light switch, ignition switch and abs pump/modulator, I have also removed the instrument cluster and cleaned all the connections with electrical contact cleaner but still the problem reappears after a period of about 2 weeks. I have plugged in my Hakweye in the past and the following codes were shown, 5E12 CAN Interface, EGS Timeout and 5E16 CAN Interface, Dashboard Instrumentati-[...] on Timeout, yet today only the 5E12 code was showing. I know timeouts are often a bad connection at either end of the bus however I have checked, cleaned and rechecked every possible connection I can. Any help or ideas will be very much appreciated as I am totally stumped:confused:

Thanks Essex I like the hammer idea but, being a adverse to anything that could make me brake out in a sweat will be avoided it's petrol for me every time:flame2:

Gimlet.

Doesn't the all seeing hawkwye give you the option to clear the faults, run the vehicle in different configurations then retest it?

Or run M*A*S*H while unplugging different sensors to try to narrow the fault down by elimination?

I changed my clocks and the lights stayed off. So with me, it was a fault with the clocks themselves..............just a thought.

Replacing sensors one by one and clearing the codes with Hawkeye is what I have been doing however, just when you think you have solved the problem back it comes.
The only thing I have not replaced is the instrument cluster which might be the next thing to do.

Are your brake lights working? from what I've read the brake switch mostly causes this - although you have replaced it... ls it the upgraded type?..also there's a knack to fitting it or it won't work properly.

I tried a tip from someone on here when I had the three lights on

Switch the hdc on, drive off in first giving it a bit of pedal (check its safe to do so of course) - tc and abs went out on mine leaving hdc on but that narrowed the problems down a bit.

You will need to physically check the connector where its soldered into the ECU, Clocks or where ever.......Means totally stripping each item, are you sure that can bus error is a valid fault? Sometimes diags can lead you up the wrong path:)

Dry Joint

I also have 3 Amigos and now an intermittant handbrake light....Im pretty sure it is 1,2,3 or 4 of the abs sensors:D as thats all ive touched ( jet washed underneath now have the dash lights).......I now have 4 eBay specials in there (ABS sensors), so Im up **** creak with out a diagnostics scanner....

Also the G sensor usually needs calibrating if you`ve move it, does your hawke eye have the option to recalibrate the G sensor?

Hi Jedi
Thanks for the info. Yes Hawkeye will calibrate the g sensor which I did, as for stripping the instrument cluster and checking for dry joints is a bit beyond my ability as auto electrics is a minefield. Thinking of buying a new instrument cluster anyway. PM your location and if not too far away will only to happy to let you play with hawkeye.
