Not the sort of language you would expect from an 'old' Land Rover Mechanic (Military petrol series 3's), but this is baffling me. I might even have to go out and buy a manual.
When I start my TD4 '04 Freelander all is well, but after 20 seconds or so a strange ( I can only describe as a loud purging/ priming) noise starts from inside the panelling of the Front/Nearside of the car. This noise continues for a further 20 seconds before fading out and again all is well. This has been going on for well over 6 months and 10,000 miles so i am loathed to take it in for investigation as I will be charged for the privelage. The unit - or whatever it is- carries on working for a short while after I shut down the engine so it must be an electrical component rather than belt driven. Any Ideas?
