Never used this site before so I don't know if this is the correct way to reply, but here goes....Check that the speaker cones move in by aplying gentle pressure to them if they don't move say 5mm or so it's a good bet that the speaker magnet has become detatched and is jamming the speech coil, some high frquency sound will still be heard but at lower volume. I don't think the speakers can be repaired at a reasonable cost but check second hand ones as they may have the same problem. I had to change three out of four.

I had a similar problems with the rear speakers, turned out there was a bit of corrosion on the connectors, gave them a good clean and the speakers are now working well, don't think they'd work if Westlife was on though!

Yes... I had a problem with the contacts on the boot speaker but I had to replace 3 of the 4 door speakers due to the cones seizing, I am trying to find out if Rover solved the problem of the speaker magnet to basket adhesive disintegrating.
